The strength of Allan Brooks Nature Centre is in our volunteers and donors, in fact we couldn’t do it without you! Many hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars are donated every year to help maintain and sustain our public programming, bringing quality interpretive experiences to the lives of youth and their families. You do not have to give a lot of time or money to make an impact at ABNC. There are a wide range of opportunities – for the nature lover, weekend explorer, good neighbour, community builder, and handy persons. We’d love to have you on our support team!

Current Volunteer Opportunities Include:

Education Program Volunteers
Volunteers are in charge of teaching 30-minute established lesson plans to groups of 10-15 students ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 6. Volunteers will be needed during week days all year round. Morning and afternoon times available. Special Event Attendants 2 – 3 for the following dates:

Friday, Dec. 85 – 8pm – Silver Star Light Up @ Silver Star Mtn Resort Village
Saturday, Dec 912 – 5pm – JCI Alternative Gift Fair @ The Schubert Centre

Buildings & Grounds Crew
We are seeking carpenters and construction crew for the Grassland Theatre Project as well as some cabinetry work in the Brooks Nature Trailer. If you have time and interest to join a work crew, we’d love to hear from you! Or, if you know someone who has time and interest to learn more about these and other projects we’re working on, we could certainly use your help!

  • Invasive Plant Control

Office and Resource

  • Computer/Database Maintenance
  • Library/Research

3- 6 hours per month

Buildings and Maintenance

  • Construction & Light Mechanics
  • Carpentry
  • Painting and general building upkeep

Special Skills

  • Social Media/Marketing
  • Engineers (structural, civil, etc)
