We would like to thank all our volunteers for donating their valuable time to the Allan Brooks Nature Centre. Volunteer help has been critical in making the Nature Centre so successful. Volunteer hours have a value of more than $75,000 per year! Many of our volunteers return each year and are excited to have new volunteers join us. This gives the Nature Centre fantastic leverage for grant applications. Please keep track of your hours.

Current Volunteer Opportunities Spring 2011
School Program Leader - Do you enjoy working with children? We need volunteers to lead small groups of school children in one of four stations during our education programs. These programs run May to June and September to October. Full training is available.
Interpeters - Guide visitors to the nature centre to the various displays and rooms show casing the Habitats and native species in the North Okanagan Valley. Full training is available.
Display Committee Member and Builder - Each year we update our displays and we are looking for creative, handy people who would like to bring the species and habitats of the North Okanagan to life.
Summer Program Assistants - Do you love working with children or are you a teen looking to gain experience working with children. We are looking for energetic people to help with our summer camps both in the planning and assisting with the camps that will run 9:00 am to Noon Mondays to Thursdays from July 4 to August 25, 2011.
Xeroscaping/Grounds Maintenance - This very important position requires people who enjoy working outside with their hands in a gardening, landscaping environment. Come join our very dedicated and fun team of landscapers.
Building Maintenance - We are located in the old Environment Canada Weather Station Building and we are occasionally in need of a building maintenance person.
Fundraising Events - We have three major fundraising events throughout the year and we need volunteers to help with the planning, organizing and execution of these events. We have our Annual Dinner and Auction hosted by Mike Roberts held at the Best Western Lodge on April 8, 2011. Planning meetings have already begun and more volunteers are needed. We also have two very fun Garage Sales in the spring and the fall. Planning and collection has already started for our spring garage sale held on May 2011.
Volunteer Coordinator - Are you great with people, super organized and energetic? We are looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to help schedule our volunteers, track their hours and plan for our big end of season Volunteer Appreciation Dinner.
Memebership Committee Members - We need volunteers to help with our annul membership drive.
