Displays and Programs

The Allan Brooks Nature Centre features a variety of nature-related activities and experiences for the local community, tourists, public groups, and school classes, including:

  • The Habitat Room where you can surround yourself with the rich diversity of natural ecosystems of the North Okanagan. New this year - experience the magic of a starry night, and coming soon –test your skills at “Nature Trivia”!

  • View of Kalamalka Lake from The Allan Brooks Nature CentreThe Feature Exhibits updated this year – find out what was happening in nature while you cuddled by your fireplace this winter.

  • The Discovery Room - get ready to touch, peak, guess and discover! The live bee- hive is always a-buzz. Take a peek into the dark to find out “Whooo’s out Tonight?” Fit the puzzle together for a vision of our valley’s future. Find out “What’s in bloom now?” Open the drawers, take a closer look, have some play time with our puppets…

  • Grassland Trail
    The trail around the site offers an intimate look at grassland plants and wildlife. See how native plants have adapted to dry grasslands. Watch for “Marmot City”. See how the marmots react to birds of prey circling overhead. Please stay on the trails to help us protect and restore this sensitive area.

  • Spectacular Views
    Take in breathtaking views! Bring a picnic lunch and relax in these beautiful surroundings.

    The Allan Brooks Nature Centre has new Spring, Summer and Fall programs that cover a range of nature-related topics. For details and registration information, please view our Calendar of Events. If you think of any new program suggestions, please contact us. All programs require pre-registration

  • School Programs
    Educating children about the North Okanagan's unique environment is one of the main goals of the Allan Brooks Nature Centre. A variety of interesting and entertaining educational programs have been planned for local elementary schools. For details on the content of the planned school programs for 2007, please view our School Programs Summary. Contact us to register your school group for a field trip today!

  • Group Programs
    Group tours are available daily during the Nature Centre's operating season (May 1st through October 15th). All group programs will include a guided tour (maximum of two hours), and admission to the site. Groups must pre-register, and to avoid disappointment please schedule as far in advance as possible. For more information on admission rates for group programs, please view our Group Programs Summary. The content and focus of the tour can be adapted to suit your group's interests and abilities. This is an excellent opportunity for summer day camps, birthday parties, small wedding receptions, seniors day trips, group picnics or socials.
